Fix problems caused by Android 4.3 update to Galaxy S3 (UK)

I have happened upon a cure of sorts for the worst of the problems caused by the recent 4.3 update to the S3.

For the problem with the screen being slow to wake or just locking up and not waking you need to clear the partition cache.

To do this Power off your phone.

Once off hold down power, home and volume up at the same time till you see the samsung logo then let go.

It will then go into the boot loader screen, use the volume keys to move up and down on the list and the power button to select. It starts out on Wipe Partition Cache anyway, select that. After its finished, which doesn't take long it has an option to reboot now. Do this and most of the laggy power/home button issues should be done.

I am hoping this also helps with the battery issues. Since then I have only lost 8% in just over an hour compared to before when it was like 20% odd an hour.

Another one which really helps is to disable smart stay and smart rotation (settings/my device& 2nd option from the bottom)

Disabling your lock screen altogether can almost cure the lock screen lag.

To clear persistent Notifications in the Notifications bar that keep re-appearing after you have cleared them:

Open settings > More > Application Manager
Swipe across to show "All" and then find "Download Manager"
Open this and select "Clear Data"

Tada, hope this helps anyone scunnered by this pesky update!
